MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,154.49 points, up by 0.25 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.24 per cent at 469.62 points.

A'Saffa Foods, up 9.7 per cent, was the top gainer while, Taageer Finance, down 3.09 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineering were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 330 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.71 million, with more than 6.45 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded securities, 8 advanced, 13 declined, and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR116,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR98,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,608.82 points, up 0.37 per cent. Prices of HSBC Bank Oman, Bank Nizwa, National Bank Oman and Bank Muscat were up by 1.85 per cent, 1.05 per cent, 0.51 per cent and 0.38 per cent respectively. Prices of Taageer Finance, Muscat Finance and Oman & Emirates Investment were down by 3.09 per cent, 1.35 per cent, and 1.15 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,085 points, down 0.22 per cent. Prices of A'Saffa Foods, Dhofar Cattle Feed and Raysut Cement were up by 9.7 per cent, 2.67 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Fisheries, Gulf Mushroom Products, Galfar Engineering, Al Maha Ceramics and Jazeera Steel Products were down by 1.8 per cent, 0.99 per cent, 0.89 per cent, 0.76 per cent and 0.54 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.15 per cent before closing at 1,616.88 points. Oman Telecom was the only gainer up by 0.93 per cent. Prices of Barka Desalination, OIFC, Ooredoo and Al Jazeera Services were down by 1.41 per cent, 1.36 per cent, 1.21 per cent and 0.37 per cent respectively.
