South Al Batinah Municipal Council discusses service, development projects

A’Rustaq: The Municipal Council of South Al Batinah Governorate discussed a number of service and development topics during its meeting today, chaired by Eng. Masoud Said Al Hashmi, Governor of South Al Batinah and Chairman of the Council.

The Council commenced its meeting by approving the minutes of the fourth meeting of 2026, along with reviewing the report of the field visit conducted by the Governorate Development Committee to the waterfront project in the Wilayat of Barka. The Council also reviewed the minutes of the second meetings of 2026 for the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee, the Social Affairs Committee, and the Legal Affairs Committee, in addition to reviewing the minutes of the third meeting of 2026 for the Governorate Development Committee, as part of following up the work and recommendations of its subcommittees.

In the area of planning and land use, the Council discussed several requests and proposals related to land allocation and master plans, including a study on allocating a site for livestock farms in the Al Iraqi area of the Wilayat of A’Rustaq, a request for a plot of land for a park in the Al Mahalil area of the Wilayat of Nakhal and a study on the layout of the Al Marji plan in the Wilayat of A’Rustaq.

The Council also reviewed several topics related to infrastructure, roads, and traffic safety, discussing the construction of pedestrian and vehicle tunnels, a study on paving Al Muraisi road in the Wilayat of Barka, as well as a request for internal road lighting in the Al Qurayha area of the Wilayat of Barka.

Furthermore, the Council discussed a study on a flood protection request in Musalamat area of the Wilayat of Wadi Al Maawil, along with a request to construct water drainage tunnels in Wadi Al Hufri and Wadi Al Khuwayrat in the Wilayat of Barka to reduce damage caused by flash floods and enhancing public safety.

The Council also addressed several other service and development topics.
