Environment Authority plants 2,300 mangrove saplings in Oman
Muscat: Environment Authority has planted 2,300 mangrove saplings in the Wilayat of Masirah.
“As part of the efforts made by the Environment Authority to implement the national initiative to plant 10 million trees and rehabilitate the creeks in the Sultanate of Oman, the Conservation of Marine Environment Department, in coordination with the Environment Centre in the Wilayat of Masirah, planted 2,300 mangrove saplings in Khor Al Hare in the Wilayat of Masirah in the Governorate of South Al-Sharqiyah,” Environment Authority said.
The mangrove trees have great benefits in maintaining the ecological balance, as they work to preserve beaches from erosion and are incubating areas for many commercially valuable fish and other marine creatures, in addition to their contribution to storing carbon dioxide.
