ABQ Seeb International School Launches PRE-KG Classes

The first years of school are an exciting and important time in any child’s development. To enhance growth at a young age and in line with setting an exemplar standard within the sector, ABQ Seeb International School is expanding its KG section to include two pre-KG classes, starting from January 2022.

Humayun Kabir, ABQ Education Group Chief Executive Officer, says, “ABQ is the largest international school operator in Oman, and already trusted by thousands of Omani and expatriate families to educate their children. We are excited to launch our new sub-brand, ABQ Explorer. Going forward, ABQ Explorer will incorporate all ABQ kindergartens, including the pre-KG sections.”

ABQ Explorer strives to provide and promote quality and nurturing environment for the developing young child.  ABQ Explorer follows the highly credited, UK-based International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC), adapted to the specific needs of students living in Oman. The IEYC is a research-based curriculum recognising global best practices in early childhood education and the developmental needs of 2 to 5-year-olds.

Sharl Prinsloo, Principal of ABQ Seeb International School, explains, ‘With this new addition to our school, we will be able to accommodate children from as young as 2 years and 2 months. We even offer an extended care option whereby working parents will be able to drop off their child earlier and pick them up later than a typical ‘mornings only’ alternative.”

ABQ aims to create an environment that is beneficial to the growth, learning and development of its youngest students, which is also safe, engaging and fun. The schools are meant to help all students to discover the joy of learning, explore and make new friends. ABQ’s classrooms are equipped with purpose-built furniture, equipment and educational games which aid in the holistic development of its students.

Prinsloo continues, “It is never too early to begin exploring the world. We see this as a wonderful opportunity to capture the curiosity of young children and instill in them a life-long love for learning. ABQ Explorer sets the stage for the children’s academic journey with us as they are able to remain in one school from age 2 through to Grade 12.”

The IEYC process of learning successfully captures children’s natural curiosity as a starting point and balances child-initiated and teacher-enhanced learning within an encouraging environment.

With over 45 years of cumulative school operating experience and 300+ educators, ABQ has a wealth of knowledge and expertise within its group. This has enabled them to become the largest private school operator in Oman - with 3 schools, more than 3000 students, 400+ staff members and 21 subjects offered.
