Shura Council committee discusses reduction of power tariff

Muscat: The Services and Social Development Committee of the Shura Council discussed the establishment of nurseries for the children of mothers who work in institutions affiliated with the public and private sectors, and reducing electricity tariffs for agricultural meters.

A statement by the Shura Council said: "The Services and Social Development Committee discussed, during its meeting this morning, the issue of reducing the electricity tariff for the agricultural meter, due to the negative effects caused by raising the electricity tariff, including its impact on investment in the agricultural sector as a result of the cost increase."

This came during the committee's second periodic meeting for the third annual session (2021-2022) of the ninth period of the council, headed by His Excellency Dr. Hammoud bin Ahmed Al Yahyai, Chairman of the Committee, and in the presence of Their Excellencies the members of the Committee.

The committee also discussed the issue of organising the work of street vendors, and discussed a number of proposals and solutions with regard to identifying appropriate collective sites for street vendors rather than individual sites, and identifying specific roving sales activities.

The meeting also discussed the issue of establishing nurseries for children of women who work in institutions of the public and private sectors.
