Muscat: The Imam Jabir Bin Zaid Waqf Foundation (JBZF) on Sunday launched an Omani Endowment Partnership Portal named “Waqf”.

The portal aims to enhance the concept of community-based endowment service and offer digitised solutions to streamline the process of humanitarian donation.

The programme was unveiled during the first endowment forum organized by the JBZF in cooperation with the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs. The event kicked off under the auspices of Sheikh Al Fadhl Mohammed Al Harthi, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers.

The Omani Endowment Partnership Portal (Waqf) will henceforth serve as a platform for endowment establishments in the Sultanate of Oman. Its electronic port will gear the activities of donations made through the Omani endowment organisations.

Commenting on this move, His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed Hamad Al Khalili, Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, Founder of the JBZF, said, “While Infaq—spiritual spending for the sake of the Almighty Allah—is deemed one of the tasks that bring one closer to Allah, the best Infaq is the type of endowment that lasts even after one passes away.”

Al Khalili took the opportunity to call for the consolidation of social cooperation, noting that collective action to promote social responsibility is a blessed task.

The forum saw the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding in the field of endowment-based donation.
