Muscat: The Royal Hospital has performed four kidney transplants within a week for patients suffering from chronic kidney failure.
"A medical team specialised in organ transplantation at the Royal Hospital was able to perform four kidney transplants within one week through advanced laparoscopic technology for patients suffering from chronic kidney failure of which two cases were that of children," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
Dr. Qassim bin Ahmed Al Salmi, Director General of the Royal Hospital, said that this is in continuation of the series of efforts made to transplant human organs and tissues.
Dr. Neven bint Ibrahim Al Kalbani, Senior Consultant of Pediatric Nephrology and Head of the Organ Transplant Department at the Royal Hospital, explained that organ transplantation is one of the most important pioneering operations in the health sector.
