Muscat: The first 19 fixtures of Oman Cricket’s 10-over Tennex Ball tournament were successfully conducted at the Municipality Grounds on May 13, 2022.
Muscat Super Kings registered Week 1’s highest total in their game against WCC. Batting first after winning the toss, they finished on a colossal 121/6. Vishal Parshomttambhai Desai led the scoring with 36 runs off just 15 deliveries. The Kings were excellent in the second innings too. They restricted WCC to 70 runs and wrapped up a dominant 51-run victory.
The clash between Deccan Challengers and Muscat Panthers was the most one sided of the competition thus far. In the first phase of play, none of the Challengers were able to reach double figures and posted a modest tally of 59/4. Powered by an explosive 47-run
knock from Tenarangam Yeduru, the Panthers made light work of that target and chased it down in just 4 overs with all 10 wickets intact.
The game between Max XI and the Bombay Blues was on the opposite end of that spectrum. Put to bat first, Max XI lost wickets at regular intervals but a late 32 run blitz from Sultan Ali propelled them to a first innings score of 95. The run chase went down to
the wire and by collecting 2 runs off the game’s final ball, the Blues reached the finish line but did not cross it. The match ended in a tie.
Aksaar Aslam Sardar of Tuluvers XI recorded the highest individual total of Week 1 with 59 runs. Mohammad Mazharul Islam, Mohammed Ahmad Rashid Ahmad and Suhas Gowda were the others to reach half-centuries.
With the ball, Haja Hameed of Proline Knight Riders was the pick of the week. His 2 overs produced a staggering 4 wickets at the cost of just 7 runs. Sai Kiran, Ketan Kumar Patel, Muhamad Rafeek Jayafar Kunju, Ramjaan Boota, Afzal Ali Mir and Lilo Varghese claimed 3 scalps apiece.
The next set of fixtures of the Tennex tournament get underway on May 20th.
