Muscat: Majlis Al Shura will host Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Shihhi, Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources on coming Monday and Tuesday at its 21st and 22nd sessions of the first annual sitting (2015/2016).
Sheik Ali bin Nasser Al Mahrouqi, Secretary General of Majlis Al Shura said that the minister will discuss municipal plans and policies, public health and services, community service and recreational projects, water resources, the 8th five-year plan of the sector and the water wealth.
The 22nd session of Majlis on Wednesday will discuss and approve a proposal to amend some articles of the Financial and Administrative State Audit Institution Law, as well as a proposals to amend the Maritime Fishing and Protection of Water Live Water Environment Law .
He added that the session will also discuss a number of reports by the standing and ad hoc committees including the report of the economic and financial committee on its study on the hindrances before the private sector and the incentives required to increase its contribution to the GDP, the final report of the economic crisis and its effects on society treatment committee.
It will also discuss the report of the food and water security committee on revising the mechanisms for foodstuff subsidy, the study of the education and scientific research committee on the private schools in the Sultanate and its study on the status of private universities and colleges in Oman.
He pointed out that Majlis will also look into a number of proposals including the proposals about introducing a public auction to sell distinguished vehicle plate numbers and the proposal on Oman University project.
He added that during the session Majlis will also review a number of replies including the reply of the Minister of Housing on delay in distributing the agricultural lands, the reply of CBO Executive President on the charges collected by commercial banks from customers, the reply of the Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs on the financial savings from lifting fuel subsidy, the reply of the Minister of Commerce and Industry on how far the Sultanate benefited from FTA with USA.
During the Ramadan evening on Tuesday, members of the Omani Lawyers Association, owners of law firms and lawyers, Dr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Zadjali, Chairman of Shura’s Legislative Legal Committee and Chairman of the Omani Lawyers Association said that as per the Council of Minister’s decision, the extension for the non-Omani lawyers practicing law profession in the Sultanate, before the courts of appeal and the Supreme Court, will expire on December 31, 2016.
