MSX index ends higher

MSX index ends higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,643.93 points, up by 0.38 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 2.55 per cent at 477.88 points. Raysut Cement, up 9.9 per cent, was the top gainer while Dhofar Generating, down 8.33 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Raysut Cement were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 672 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.02 million, with more than 8.69 million shares changing hands. Out of 46 traded securities, 17 advanced, 11 declined, and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR237,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR208,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR29,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,409.18 points, up 0.38 per cent. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Oman & Emirates Investment, Muscat Finance, National Bank Oman, and Oman Arab Bank were up by 4.49 per cent, 3.7 per cent, 3.45 per cent, 3.06 per cent, and 2.5 per cent respectively. Prices of Bank Dhofar, and Al Madina Takaful were down by 2.54 per cent, and 1.06 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,175.26 points, up 0.40 per cent. Prices of Dhofar Cattle Feed, National Aluminium, Galfar Engineering, Oman Fisheries, and A'Saffa Foods were up by 5 per cent, 4.4 per cent, 1.12 per cent, 1.12 per cent, and 0.9 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Packaging, Oman Cement, Jazeera Steel Products, and Al Anwar Ceramics were down by 9.87 per cent, 2.54 per cent, 0.51 per cent, and 0.46 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.54 per cent before closing at 1678.46 points. Prices of Barka Desalination, Sembcorp Salalah, Al Jazeera Services, Oman National Engineering, and National Gas were up by 2.74 per cent, 2.47 per cent, 2.26 per cent, 2.04 per cent, and 1.42 per cent respectively. Prices of SMN Power Holding and Renaissance Services were down by 2.27 per cent, and 0.47 per cent respectively.
