1. Rainfall predicted over parts of Oman
Parts of Al Hajar Mountains and Dhofar Governorate may witness isolated rainfall on Thursday.
"There are chances of clouds forming and scattered rain on the Western Al Hajar Mountains today during the afternoon, with the continued flow of clouds on the coasts of the Arabian Sea. Scattered rain is predicted on parts of Dhofar Governorate," Oman Meteorology said in a statement.
2. Police seize over 1,500 packages of Khat
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 1,500 packages of khat drug into the Sultanate of Oman by four smugglers.
"The Dhofar Governorate Police Command arrested four people of Arab nationality on a boat while they were trying to smuggle 1,566 packages of khat. The legal procedures are being completed against them," ROP said in a statement.
3. His Majesty greets President of Dominica
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has sent a cable of greetings to President Charles Angelo Savarin of the Commonwealth of Dominica on his country’s Independence Anniversary.
In the cable, His Majesty the Sultan expressed his sincere sentiments and best wishes to President Savarin and the people of his country.
4. Royal Air Force of Oman airlifts citizen
The Royal Air Force of Oman has transported a critically ill citizen by helicopter from Masirah Hospital to Sur Hospital to receive the necessary specialised treatment.
The Defence Ministry said that the Royal Air Force of Oman carried out, late evening, through one of its armed helicopters, a (medical evacuation) operation in the South Sharqiyah Governorate of a citizen suffering from a critical health condition.
