Muscat: Scattered clouds and isolated rain are expected over the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar from Saturday evening till Monday due to the tropical depression over the Arabian Sea, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said.
"The satellite images and Analysis of the National Multi Hazards Early Warning Centre indicate that the depression system is lay centred over central Arabian Sea at longitude 61.8 ° E and latitude 13.9 ° N , moving westward to southwestward to the Gulf of Aden, with estimated surface wind speed around its centre ranging between 17 to 27 knots. It is likely to decay into low-pressure area during the next 24 hours without any direct impact over the Sultanate of Oman," CAA said.
The tropical system may cause an increase in the wave height with maximum height ranging between 3 to 4 meters and extending of sea water into low-laying coastal areas of Arabian Sea .
CAA advises all to follow bulletins and reports and avoid going to sea during the mentioned period .
