Muscat: A trough of new low pressure is expected to affect the Sultanate of Oman starting gradually Monday and will continue until Wednesday, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said.
According to the CAA, the latest weather maps and analyses of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center indicate upper air troughs will likely continue affecting the Sultanate of Oman during this day 25th of December 2022 until 28th of December 2022 .
Clouds advection will continue affecting today Governorates of Musandam , North Al Batinah and Al Buraimi with chances of rain showers ranging between ( 10-30 mm ) . Convective clouds may flow on Sunday over Al Hajar Mountains with chance of isolated rain occasionally thundershowers .
The trough which will affect the weather Sultanate of Oman from Monday till Wednesday will be associated with clouds advection and chances of different intensities of rain showers occasionally thundershowers over Govemorates of Musandam , North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah , Al Buraimi , Al Dakhilyah , Muscat , Al Dhahira and North al Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah .
CAA stated that the expected impacts of the trough are as follow :
1. Rain showers from 10-50 mm may cause wadies flows.
2. Fresh downdraft winds with speed of 15 to 35 kt ( 30-70km / h ) .
3-Sea state will be moderate to rough with maximum wave height will be between 2 meters to 3 meters along the coasts of Musandam governorate and the coastal areas of Oman sea
Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precaution during rain and wadies flow and to check visibility and sea state before sailing and follow the issued weather bulletins & reports .
