Oman achieves fourth place in GEMS Maturity Index 2022
The number of institutions included in the evaluation totalled 24.

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman achieved fourth place in the e-government and mobile services maturity index for the year 2022.

The index is issued by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). It measures the maturity of government services provided through electronic portals and smart applications according to three pillars, which are service availability and development, service use and satisfaction, and access to the public.

The number of institutions included in the evaluation totalled 24, along with 82 services that included several sectors, such as commerce and industry, health, education, transport, traffic, police, tourism, municipal affairs, labor, justice, and other sectors.

The results of the GEMS Maturity Index for the year 2022 also indicate an improvement in the value of the Sultanate of Oman's index from 64 percent to 69 percent, achieving a growth rate of 7.8 percent.

Additionally, the Sultanate of Oman advanced one place by achieving the fourth position, compared to the fifth position in the year 2021, through an improvement in its performance in two pillars. The first pillar is the use of the service and user satisfaction with said service, from 46.35 percent in 2021 to 58.08 percent in 2022. As for the pillar of improving audience reach index, the Sultanate's performance improved from 67.70 percent in 2021, to 72.14 percent in 2022.
