Annual industrial establishments survey to be implemented in Oman
The annual industrial survey is being implemented electronically as part of the Ministry's plans for digital transformation.

Muscat: The annual industrial establishments survey for the years (2020, 2021, and 2022) will be implemented in the Sultanate of Oman tomorrow, Sunday, April 9, 2023. It targets more than 960 industrial establishments in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion will start implementing the survey in various industrial establishments, including industrial zones, ports, free zones and the Special Economic Zone at Duqm. It will be submitted electronically.

The digital system for industrial statistics aims to make all phases of the industrial survey in the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion fully digital, and contribute to the speed and accuracy of access to industrial information.

The implementation of this annual survey, which lasts for three months, is based on the outputs of industrial strategy, which relies for its plans on accurate statistics of the reality of the industrial sector in the Sultanate of Oman. Its outputs are integrated with the statistics of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The Ministry stated that for the third time, the annual industrial survey is being implemented electronically as part of the Ministry's plans for digital transformation, as it will help companies and industrial establishments deliver their data accurately and will facilitate the process of data collection, review and analysis.

Hamida bint Abdul Hussein Al Lawati, Director of the Industrial Strategy Implementation and Evaluation Department at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said: "Industrial information relies on complete statistical surveys that have a role in following up and evaluating the industrial strategy for 2040, improving performance follow-up mechanisms, knowing how to correct the establishments' moves in a timely manner, and linking industrial statistics with main performance indicators of the ministry."

Hamida Al Lawati stressed that these surveys contribute to measuring growth rates in the manufacturing sector during the coming period. This is thanks to the continuous efforts and encouragement to adopt modern technologies in the field of industry, in order to achieve economic diversification and activate the role of non-oil sectors.

Al Lawati indicated that the aim of implementing the periodic industrial survey is to provide a modern, comprehensive and accurate database on industrial establishments in the Sultanate of Oman and to create advanced indicators to monitor and measure the performance of the industrial sector, in order to enhance transparency in the industrial sector, identify investment opportunities and raise the percentage of local content in the sector.
