Ministry of Labour to introduce contract system for expatriate employees

Muscat: The Ministry of Labour is working to introduce a contract system for expat employees soon, which will guarantee a reduction in the cost of recruiting workers, the Undersecretary of Labour Ministry for labour said on Tuesday.

Sheikh Nasr Al Hosani, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Labour said that the Ministry is working on a new organisation that guarantees a reduction in the cost of recruiting private labour, and it will be based on a contract system.

He pointed out that the first phase of which will start for specific groups, including an electronic application. He added that it will be possible to choose the type and hours of work, and will later include domestic workers.

This came during a review by His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Saeed Baw’ain, Minister of Labour, yesterday evening, Tuesday, at the annual conference of the Ministry of Labour 2023, the targeted performance indicators of the ministry during the year 2023.
