Muscat: The Directorate General of Culture, Sports and Youth in Dhofar Governorate has announced more than 65 planned activities during the Khareef Season of 2023 in various cultural, sports and youth fields.
This came during a press conference held by the Directorate General of Culture, Sports and Youth in Dhofar Governorate today, at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah. The details of the events were announced in the presence of Musa bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, Director General of the Directorate General of Culture, Sports and Youth in Dhofar Governorate.
Faisal bin Ali Al Nahdi, Assistant Director General of the Directorate General of Culture, Sports and Youth in Dhofar Governorate, pointed out that the activities of the Khareef Dhofar Cultural and Sports Season for this year include many diverse events and activities that will meet the needs of the desires and tendencies of young people.
He said that the Directorate General of Culture, Sports and Youth in Dhofar Governorate is seeking to coordinate with various agencies in order to make the activities a success within the Khareef Dhofar Cultural and Sports Season Programme.
The conference touched on the most prominent features of Khareef Dhofar Cultural and Sports Programme, such as workshops on travel literature, cultural management, a symposium on cultural economy, a group of cultural lectures, poetry evenings, a singing competition, and the implementation of the second edition of the Dhofar Theatrical Festival. This comes in addition to the implementation of an integrated programme for the activities of the public library and the children’s library, such as competitions and educational meetings.
On the sports level, the press conference revealed that tournaments will be held in swimming, bowling, snooker, billiards, tennis, as well as a football tournament that includes a number of competitions for states, government institutions, and the private sector.
The programme also includes tournaments in karate, chess, athletics and table tennis, and workshops on sports injuries and club coordinators, in addition to organising a number of women’s activities in bowling, chess and electronic sports. It will also feature an open sports day, team and individual games tournaments for clubs, and the celebration of Omani Women’s Day.
