SAS 48 Hackathon on green technologies kicks off

Musca: Activities of the 6th edition of “SAS 48 Hackathon” kicked off in Muscat today under the slogan “Green Tech”. The event was organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology.

The hackathon targets entrepreneurs and experts in the sectors of logistics, agriculture and food, renewable energy, environment and joint sectors.

During the event, working teams will join hands to develop innovative practical solutions that help use green technology to address various environmental issues. The codefest seeks to improve the use of electric vehicles to cut down fuel consumption and carbon emissions, while at the same time realizing high energy efficiency and accurately determining the needs of plants for water and nutrients.

In particular, the participants will study methods of augmenting productivity, improving and tracking the food supply chains, limiting food waste and raising the efficiency of resources like water, energy and raw materials.

The SAS 48 Hackathon provides ideal opportunities for the participants to develop realistic solutions to overcome the challenges posed to their projects. The jury will select the top three winners who come up with the most innovative ideas from among 1,163 participants who contested the 6th edition of SAS 48 Hackathon.
