Muscat: The National Defence College (NDC), Academy of Strategic and Defence Studies, today hosted Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League, who delivered a lecture titled "Regional and International Variables and their Impact on Joint Arab Action".
The lecture formed part of the curriculum of the 12th National Defence Course.
Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of the National Defence College, welcomed the Secretary-General of the Arab League. He expressed his appreciation for the Secretary-General’s constant keenness to expand the knowledge of the NDC course participants through his lectures.
In his lecture, the Secretary-General of the Arab League spoke about the current international situation and its impact on joint Arab action. He pointed out that regional and international variables and events influence the functioning of the Arab League. The lecture also dealt with the obstacles and incentives for joint Arab action, as well as modern technology and its impact on the concepts of war.
In conclusion, the Secretary-General of the Arab League replied to queries raised by participants in the 12th National Defence Course.
The lecture was attended by senior officers of the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF) and representatives of military and security units, the NDC and civil departments.
