Muscat: Oman Investment Authority (OIA) has affirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s readiness to host the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF) from 3 to 6 November 2024.
The event will see the participation of heads and members of more than 50 sovereign funds from 46 countries around the world.
Sheikh Nasser Suleiman Al Harthy, OIA Deputy Chairman for Operations, said that the event incarnates Oman’s efforts to open new vistas for economic integration with global sovereign wealth funds. He added that the meeting will be attended by officials of the world’s largest sovereign funds who run assets worth more than $8 trillion.
Speaking at a media briefing organised by OIA on Wednesday, Al Harthy said that the forum provides an opportunity to showcase Oman’s investment capabilities and develop partnerships with international sovereign funds, thus positively contributing to economic diversification and the development of the national economy.
Al Harthy pointed out that the conference will bring together a group of prominent global speakers, including Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, who will participate virtually (via electronic conferencing), Eng. Salim Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, Abdulsalam Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of OIA, Robert Smith, the richest American of African origin, Antonio Gracias, CEO of Valor, and Yan Yu, Legal Adviser at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
