Adam: His Highness Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, said that Al Bashayer Camel Racing Festival is an annual event that is developing continuously.
He said that the event receives constant support of His Majesty the Sultan for its continuity and it showcases something new every year for the benefit of citizens.
He also hoped that the new equestrian ground would be ready by end of the current year.
The statements were given by His Highness Sayyid Asa’ad on the conclusion of the 8th edition of the annual Al Bashayer Camel Racing Festival on Saturday.
The festival was held under the patronage of His Highness at Al Bashayer racecourse in the Wilayat of Adam.
The six-day event saw the participation of a number of owners of camels and camel breeders from the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC States.
The conclusion of the event saw four rounds. The first round was designated for Al Thanaya camels (for establishments.
Camel “Hamlolah”, owned by Sultan Mohammed Al Wahaibi of the United Arab Emirates secured the first place in the first round while a camel from the UAE Presidential Camel Unit, owned by Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Muroshid came second.
Camel Huzba for Manie Ali Al Shamsi secured the first place in the second round designated for Al Thanaya category (General) which was followed by Camel Aram for Mubarak bin Said Al Mekhaini in the second place and Camel Awayid for Atiq Mattar Al Qubaisi came third.
The third round was designated for Al Houl (general) category and the prize for which was the silver sword and a car.
Camel Al Anoud for Ali bin Khalifa Al Ramli secured the first place, followed by Camel Ghazala for Mohammed Al Niyadi and Camel Shaheen for Maktoum bin Saad Al Ramly, respectively.
Camel Al Faydha for Mohammed Atiq Al Mehairi secured the first place (the gold sword) and a car in the fourth round (the main round of the festival) designated for Al Houl category . Camel Muthira for Mohammed Atiq Al Mehairi secured the second place and Camel Al Haba for Faran Mohammed Al Mahri secured the third place.
At the conclusion of the festival, His Highness honoured the establishments supporting the event and handed over the prizes to the winners of the first places in the four rounds.
The festival was attended by a number of Their Highnesses, ministers, undersecretaries, sheikhs and dignitaries and lovers of camel racing from the various governorates and abroad.
