Thousands attend Oman’s largest community iftar

MUSCAT: The Ruwi Clock Tower in Muscat became the epicentre of unity during Ramadan, as thousands of people gathered for one of the largest community iftars in Oman on Friday (March 14).

Organised by the Deccani Wing of the Indian Social Club Oman (ISC), this annual event has been a cherished tradition for over two decades, drawing people from various nationalities in a celebration of generosity, unity, and cultural exchange.

The event not only marks the spirit of Ramadan but also fosters a deeper sense of community and belonging.

Suhail Khan, Head of the iftar organising committee, said, “The gathering welcomed people from diverse backgrounds, promoting the spirit of brotherhood and unity.”

He added: “Volunteers from all walks of life played a crucial role in ensuring the event’s success, distributing meals, coordinating logistics, and cultivating an atmosphere of compassion and solidarity.”

Attendees broke their fast with traditional Hyderabadi delicacies, followed by congregational prayers for peace and harmony. More than just a shared meal, the community iftar served as a platform for building friendships, strengthening community bonds, and celebrating the values of Ramadan. The gathering also featured charitable contributions, emphasising the importance of giving back to society.
