Chef Sanjeev Kapoor to open more restaurants in Oman

Muscat: The Yellow Chilli, a casual dining restaurant known for its unique menu and spearheaded by Indian Master Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, will open more outlets in Oman soon.
“Oman is a very good market for us and we are looking to open more outlets in Oman soon,” the celebrated chef told the Times of Oman in an exclusive interview.
Oman is the most beautiful country in the region, Kapoor said.

“Oman has more natural beauty than any other country in the region and I feel like I am in India. Oman has always been in my mind as an India friendly country and we don’t have many places, about which we can say this,” he added.
According to him, the iconic signature dish of Oman is Shuwa and Kapoor said he would like to experiment with Shuwa with Indian spices. “We are planning to do some experiments with Omani dishes and it will be available at our outlets,” Kapoor asserted.
Something unique
Speaking about how he entered the culinary field, Kapoor said, “I wanted to do something unique, which was not done by my relatives or neighbours; at that time, many people were not interested in getting into it and I thought it will be a smart choice.”
He describes his 30 year-long career as a dream.
Travelling around the globe has inspired him to experiment with new dishes.
“Travelling has inspired my cooking a lot, it helped me to see and experience new things, which are always a good inspiration.”
“If we want to learn, experiment and create more, we have to have more exposure,” he added.
Speaking about the reasons for his success, Kapoor said, “I am bold, I experiment a lot, I am ready to learn every day and I am ready to take risks.”
“My passion for making Indian cuisine the number one in the world is the main driving force. Because my goal is so clear, my path towards it is marked out, whatever hurdles may come my way are then taken care of,” he added.
His advice for aspiring young chefs is to have an open mind and be willing to experiment and learn more. His daughters are the biggest critics of his cooking in his family, according to Kapoor.
“Everybody in my family is good at cooking and my daughters are the biggest critics,” he concluded.
