Oman’s Indian Schools bag silver, bronze at CBSE cricket nationals

MUSCAT: It was a week to remember for young cricketers from Oman as the combined Indian school teams made their mark at the CBSE National Cricket Championship 2025, bringing home a silver and a bronze from the tournament in Noida, India.

Hosted by Aster Public School from September 15 to 20, the championship saw nearly 600 players from India and overseas battle it out across the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories in the fast-paced T20 format.

Representing Oman as a combined squad drawn from different Indian schools in the Sultanate, the boys rose to the challenge against some of the best talent from across CBSE schools in India.

The Under-14 team displayed grit and teamwork to finish with the bronze medal, while the Under-19 side impressed with their sharp batting and disciplined bowling, earning a silver medal after a hard-fought campaign.

Adding to the celebration, Ojjus Pachisia of Global Gladiators Oman was named Man of the Tournament, a prestigious honour that capped his stellar all-round performance. In the league stage, Jeet Shah (U19) and Kevin (U14) also grabbed the spotlight with Player of the Match awards for their match-winning efforts.

The U14 team was coached by Nitin Sen of Indian School Muscat while Ganesh of Indian School Al Ghubrah, guided the U19s.

For the young students, the experience went beyond medals. Competing at this level provided invaluable exposure, tested their skills against some of India’s finest school cricketers, and proved that Omani-based Indian schools can hold their own on a national platform.

The Indian School board and parents hailed the achievement as a proud moment for the wider Indian School community in Oman, highlighting the discipline, teamwork, and determination shown by the young cricketers.
