
Miami: The Greater Muscat Structural Plan was crowned with the Smart Cities Award, which was granted during the World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2025 Awards held in Miami, the United States of America (USA).
The festival is one of the most prominent international gatherings in the fields of urban planning and design.
This win is an acknowledgment of the vision presented by the Plan in shaping the future of Muscat as a smart and sustainable city, capable of responding to the challenges of urban growth, embracing the knowledge economy, and developing advanced and integrated transport systems.
The Festival also announced the selection of the Greater Muscat Structural Plan among the top 10 future projects globally in the Masterplanning category, following a competition that included 19 global projects representing an elite group of the most prominent international companies and offices specializing in urban planning and design. This reflects the advanced standing of the project on the global stage.
Nasser Abdul Latif Al Saigh, Technical Director of the Greater Muscat Structural Plan, stated that participation in this festival constitutes an opportunity to showcase current and future urban projects on an international platform that brings together an elite group of specialists in architecture and urban planning.
He noted that this participation provided an opportunity to learn about experiences from different countries around the world, connect with work teams, and present the Greater Muscat Structural Plan to a group of international judges.
He stressed that the crowning of the Greater Muscat Structural Plan with this award represents international certification of the quality of this Plan, which resulted from extensive collaborative work with partners in both the public and private sectors.
