Muscat: As the holy month of Ramadan enters its final stretch, hotels and restaurants across Oman are witnessing a strong surge in bookings for Iftar and Suhoor, with many venues reporting higher-than-usual demand this year.
From luxury resorts to popular city restaurants, dining spaces are filling up quickly as families, friends and corporate groups gather to share the traditional breaking of the fast. “Bookings have been even better than usual,” said Rejin Thomas, Hotel Manager at Sheraton Oman Hotel.
“People have decided to plan even more ahead. In the past few years we saw very last-minute bookings, but this year guests are securing their tables well in advance,” he said.
Across the capital, restaurants say the momentum has been steady since the beginning of Ramadan, with many customers making reservations early to secure preferred timings and seating arrangements.
At Jungle Restaurant in Qurum, Iftar bookings have also been encouraging. Aizat Duishekeeva, Head of Jungle Restaurant Complex and Bahja Hall, said several factors have contributed to the rise in diners this year. “A large number of people didn’t travel abroad because of the ongoing situation, so the business has been better than usual,” she said, adding that group bookings and family gatherings have increased significantly during the month.
Hospitality venues are also seeing demand driven by diners seeking new experiences beyond traditional buffets.
Hotels have been introducing themed Ramadan tents, curated menus and entertainment to create memorable evenings for guests.
“Ramadan is a time for reflection, generosity and coming together around the table. At dusitD2 Naseem Resort, we are honoured to welcome families and friends to gather for Iftar in the tranquil setting of Jabal Akhdar, where the cool mountain air and natural beauty create a special atmosphere for the holy month. Even as the region navigates challenging moments, hospitality continues to bring people together in meaningful ways. Our team has carefully curated an Iftar experience that celebrates the spirit of Ramadan through authentic flavours, warm service and a destination that invites guests to slow down, reconnect and share the blessings of the season. We are also preparing to welcome guests travelling to the mountains during the upcoming Eid holidays, when Jabal Akhdar becomes an ideal place for families and friends to spend time together and celebrate,” said Jagdeep Thakral, General Manager, dusitD2 Naseem Resort, Jabal Akhdar.
Across Oman, restaurants are enhancing the Ramadan dining experience with atmospheric décor, traditional dishes and live Arabic music, creating lively yet welcoming environments for families and friends.
Beyond Muscat, cities such as Salalah, Sohar and Sur are also embracing the festive spirit of Ramadan nights, with hotels and restaurants introducing special menus and themed dining spaces.
Social media has also played a key role this year, helping hospitality establishments showcase their Ramadan offerings and attract diners looking for unique Iftar or Suhoor experiences.
Industry observers say the surge reflects a strong desire among residents to reconnect and celebrate the communal spirit of Ramadan.
Whether through lavish buffets, cosy Suhoor gatherings or corporate Iftar events, the tradition of sharing meals after sunset continues to remain at the heart of Ramadan in Oman, bringing people together in a celebration of faith, family and community.
