Oman and UK seek to enhance cooperation in maritime and security fields

Muscat: His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign , met with Lord Edward Llewellyn, Political Director General at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

During the meeting, they discussed several topics of mutual interest, primarily the latest developments in the region and their repercussions. The two sides exchanged views on ways to enhance de-escalation and promote sustainable political and diplomatic solutions.

Lord Llewellyn listened to His Excellency the Foreign Minister's views on the importance of safeguarding the security and safety of maritime routes and strategic straits, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, and the necessity of ensuring the smooth flow of international navigation, which contributes to protecting global supply chains and enhancing economic stability.

Both sides emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation and joint coordination in security and maritime fields, and exchanging expertise to support efforts aimed at maintaining security and stability in the region and reinforcing adherence to international law and the principles of freedom of navigation.
