Major assets and investment projects in Al Dhahirah reviewed

Ibri: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources reviewed the major statistical indicators, agricultural and water assets, and investment projects within the food and water security sectors in Al Dhahirah Governorate, in addition to the executive status of ongoing projects in the governorate.

This took place during a meeting between Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and Tahir bin Mabkhout Al Junaibi, Governor of Al Dhahirah.

The meeting addressed ongoing agricultural projects, the primary challenges they face, and the mechanisms to address them and overcome obstacles. The discussions emphasised the necessity of supporting efforts aimed at achieving sustainable food security and strengthening partnerships among the government sector, the private sector, and agricultural associations.

Tahir Mabkhout Al Junaibi, Governor of Al Dhahirah, stated that this visit reinforces the government's commitment to supporting the agricultural sector as well as food and water security projects across various governorates of Oman, noting that the governorate possesses promising agricultural and investment capabilities.

He stressed the importance of overcoming all challenges facing farmers and owners of SMEs to achieve sustainable agricultural development that contributes to boosting local production and supporting the national economy. He added that working with the relevant authorities will transform challenges into tangible executive steps that serve the goals of comprehensive development in the governorate, ensuring the realisation of food and water security in the Sultanate of Oman.

Following the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, alongside Halima Rashid Al Zareei, Chairperson of the SMEs Development Authority (Riyada), conducted a field visit to several pioneering food security projects in Al Dhahirah Governorate.

The visit included inspecting the efforts exerted to enhance local production and support farmers, as well as reviewing advanced agricultural projects that contribute to achieving self-sufficiency and enhancing food security, including the Al An'am livestock farms in the Wilayat of Dhank and the Subul National farms (a poultry farm).
