Food delivery two-wheelers prohibited from using main roads in Oman

Muscat : Food delivery vehicles are prohibited from operating on main roads in the Sultanate of Oman, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said.

Based on the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology's commitment, represented by the Labour Market Regulation Committee in the Logistics Sector, to enhancing traffic safety and protecting food delivery motorcycle drivers and other road users, we wish to emphasize the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and laws governing motorcycle traffic.

Therefore, the operation of food delivery motorcycles on main roads is prohibited, in accordance with Article (39) of the Executive Regulations of the Traffic Law of the Royal Oman Police, due to the serious risks they pose as a result of the high speeds of vehicles, which could, God forbid, lead to serious traffic accidents.

Therefore, all food delivery motorcycle drivers must use secondary roads and designated routes suitable for motorcycle traffic, while adhering to all approved traffic safety requirements and regulations.

The Ministry also emphasised the need for all relevant authorities and owners of establishments and companies operating in the food delivery sector to educate drivers and ensure their compliance with the regulations and procedures to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
