Several killed, nine injured in Dubai road accident

Dubai: At least seven Indian workers were killed and nine others injured in a tragic road accident in Dubai on Monday after a minibus collided with a truck that had reportedly stopped in the middle of a major roadway due to a technical fault.

According to Dubai Police, the fatal crash occurred on Emirates Road and prompted a large-scale emergency response. Preliminary investigations indicate that the truck came to a sudden halt after developing a mechanical problem, leaving it stranded on the roadway. The minibus carrying workers subsequently crashed into the stationary vehicle.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and transported the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The Indian Consulate in Dubai expressed deep sorrow over the incident and said it was coordinating with local authorities to provide assistance to those affected.

In a statement, the mission said: “Deeply saddened by the tragic road accident in Dubai that claimed the lives of several Indian workers. Our officials visited the hospital, met the injured Indians, and are working closely with local authorities to provide all possible assistance and support. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are with the grieving families during this difficult time.”

Officials from the Indian mission have visited hospitals treating the injured and are assisting victims and their families. The embassy said it remains in close contact with the authorities to ensure necessary support and facilitate required procedures.
