Rare biological species sighting documented in Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi

Ibri: The Environment Authority Department in Al Dhahirah Governorate has documented a number of rare and endangered biological species inside the Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi Natural Oasis Reserve.

The monitoring operations included documenting the Arabian tahr in one of the mountainous locations within the reserve. Additionally, a lappet-faced vulture chick—which is an endangered bird of prey—was documented during its return to its nest in the reserve. The Afghan fox, a rare desert mammal characterised by its ability to adapt to arid and mountainous environments, was also spotted, and wildlife cameras recorded the presence of the Sandgrouse bird.

The Environment Authority Department in Al Dhahirah Governorate confirmed that this documentation came as a result of continuous monitoring efforts carried out by the Yanqul Unit through field patrols, the use of wildlife cameras, and the tracking of natural habitats.
