
Muscat: The number of visitors to Al Jabal Al Akhdar in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate reached 101,608 between the beginning of January and the end of June 2026, compared to 89,780 visitors during the same period last year, marking an increase of 13.2 percent, according to statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
The statistics indicated that the number of Omani visitors to Al Jabal Al Akhdar during the first half of 2026 reached 40,082, while the number of Saudi visitors reached 13,272, Emirati visitors 395, Bahraini visitors 285, Kuwaiti visitors 332, and Qatari visitors 149.
Statistics showed that the number of visitors from other Arab nationalities reached 4,863, while foreign nationalities constituted the largest percentage of visitors at 52,230.
The Rose Spring Festival 2026 in the Al Jabal Al Akhdar region, held annually from the end of March to mid-April, generated significant tourism activity and contributed to attracting many visitors from within the Sultanate of Oman and abroad.
The Rose Spring Festival is one of the seasons that further diversifies the tourism offerings in the Al Jabal Al Akhdar region, adding to its existing attractions of leisure, adventure, nature, and heritage tourism. Among these attractions is the opportunity for visitors to learn firsthand about the traditional and modern methods of rosewater production.
This season also serves as a tourist attraction due to its connection with the traditional craft of rosewater distillation, which is used in local decorative products, perfumes, sweets, and Omani coffee.
It is worth noting that the Al Jabal Al Akhdar region in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Sultanate of Oman, thanks to its moderate climate in summer and cool winters, in addition to the availability of numerous hotels, resorts, and tourist lodges, and the hosting of various events that have contributed to attracting tourists.
The region is also a leading destination for ecotourism and adventure tourism, offering visitors a variety of activities such as hiking in valleys, visiting caves, and mountain climbing. These activities also contribute to introducing visitors to the local culture and authentic customs of the region's villages, thus enhancing its status as a comprehensive tourist destination that combines nature, adventure, and cultural heritage.
