Muscat: Oman Cricket has selected Wasim Ali to lead the Sultanate squad in the ICC U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier Division 2 competition to be organised in Kuala Lumpur.
The qualifying tournament will take place in the Malaysian capital city from September 25 to October 7.
The other players in the 14-member Omani team, coached by Nilesh Parmar and his assisstant Parvez Al Balushi, are Paritosh Hitesh Kumar (vice-captain), Vivek Shreeraman Iyer, Suhail Hakim Al Balushi, Muhannad Said Haidar Al Balushi, Mohammed Salman, Hemil Maaheshkumar, Ivan Joseph Manjila, Mohit Kanaiyalal, Mohammed Mohsin, Vikram Nabira, Indunil Udara, Prathyosh Sivakumar and Ubaid Ullah.
In the 10-team qualifying event, Oman are placed in Group B along with UAE, Kuwait, Hong Kong and Thailand while Group A comprises Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Singapore.
Oman Cricket board member Dad Mohammed Al Balushi will accompany the Omani delegation as the team manager.
The delegation also comprises Dr. Margasahayam Manjunath (trainer).
