Muscat: Awasr, Oman’s provider of specialised broadband internet services, has announced Engineer Al Fadhal bin Abbas Al Hinai as the new chief executive officer of the company.
Eng. Al Hinai brings to Awasr more than 15 years of experience in the information and communications technology sector, specifically in areas such as network engineering, project management, and policy and strategy development.
He has acted as a technical consultant for various strategic projects in the Sultanate’s public and private sectors, and has been keenly involved in the commercial, economic, technical and social aspects of several projects.
His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asad Al Said, chairman of the board, while welcoming Eng. Al Hinai reiterated his trust in his capability to implement Awasr’s growth plan and achieve its strategic objectives. “Eng. Al Hinai will carry out Awasr’s innovative projects targeting homes and businesses in the Sultanate in line with the sector’s development plans, particularly the Oman national broadband strategy,” he added.
“I’m honoured to lead the Awasr team to achieve the company’s strategic objectives and contribute to innovation in the sector. Awasr will enable Omanis to make the best of ultra-high speed internet and achieve a better lifestyle. We look forward to reaching out to the largest segment of homes and businesses, ensuring seamless high-quality services at affordable prices across the Sultanate,” said Eng. Al Hinai while commenting on his appointment.
“We will work as a team to maintain the success and growth achieved by Awasr since its inception in March. We will put our experience to good use and strengthen the company’s position in the telecommunication’s market by utilising the latest technical developments in the sector. We will also implement the best modern management models focused on business leadership,” Eng. Al Hinai added.
Awasr officially launched its services earlier this year, becoming Oman’s first specialised optic fibre service provider. It has recently been issued with a Grade 1 licence, allowing it to expand its fibre services in regions like Maabilah, Al Seeb, Al Hail, Al Khoud and Shatti Al Qurum.
