437 workers violated Labour Law in Oman

Muscat: A joint effort between the Ministry of Manpower and security authorities were able to arrest 437 labor law violators, according to the weekly index issued by the ministry.
According to the data, 437 expatriates were arrested for violating the labor law, between 2 and 8 October 2016 where 329 were commercial workers, 46 worked in agriculture and 62 were domestic servants.
The ministry’s inspection team arrested 407 violators out of the total where further investigations shows that 236 were absconded workers, 165 were relieved of their duties while the remaining 6 were referred to the ministry by third parties.
Muscat Governorate recorded the highest number of violators during the week with 110 followed by North Al Batinah Governorate with 90 arrests.
Meanwhile, 291 labor law violators were deported after completing procedures with their respective embassies.
