Oman celebrates Tree Day

Muscat: The Sultanate marks on Monday day the “Tree Day” which falls on October 31st each year as affirmation for the importance of different kinds of trees and the fact that Omanis are closely linked to trees since old ages.
The date has been selected as it is the apex of the winter agricultural season when most of the tree seedlings are planted.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries will organise a celebration at Sohar University under the auspices of Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed al- Shamsi, Wali of Sohar. The event includes a lecture on the efforts done by the Ministry in agricultural sustainable development in the Sultanate.
The Al Batinah Farmers Society alongside with a number of agricultural companies and One Million Tree Project, the Volunteer for Better Oman team and a number of schools will organize a number of events that show interest in trees.
The Sultanate’s Government represented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries is responsible for developing the sector on scientific basis to make agricultural activity economically feasible.
