Muscat: Muscat Rugby Football Club (MRFC) came up with a dominant display to outplay the visiting Doha side for a 47-0 victory in a crucial match of the Gulf Rugby League at Muscat rugby field on Friday.
The result achieved with a bonus point helped the Muscat team seal the league title. The winners led 12-0 at the break.
In a match that MRFC forward pack totally dominated the Doha scrum and controlled much of the breakdown ball, giving Muscat most of the possession, Phil Braden emerged the top performer with three tries.
The other tries came from Choco Dejean, Karl Rasmussen, Dillan Karelse and Mike Shaw.
Though Doha backs were faster than the hosts, the Muscat backs came up with some solid tackles.

Especially in the last ten minutes, the Doha team launched impressive all out attack against a 14-man team with one man sent off for a high tackle.
Muscat’s defence, however, stayed solid till the end to win 47-0.
Muscat forward Phil Braben stood out as a key player both in attack and defence and was duly named the man of the match.
