Muscat: The Ministry of Education, represented by the Oman National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, on Monday organised a regional training workshop on the indicators of the fourth goal of the sustainable development/Education 2030, under the patronage of Dr. Said bin Hamad Al Rubaiei, Secretary General of the Education Council.
The organisation of the workshop comes in collaboration with the UNESCO Regional Office for Education in Beirut, the regional UNESCO Office in Doha, UNESCO Institute for Statistics and the Arab Education Bureau for the GCC. The workshop took place at Sundus Rotana Hotel and continues for three consecutive days.
The workshop began with the Committee’s speech delivered by Mohammad Al Ya’aqobi, Undersecretary of the Omani National Committee for Education, Culture and Science.
In the speech he said: “This workshop reflects the Omani government’s attention and interest in developing human resources and providing the suitable environment to be trained and qualified in a way that enables them to accomplish the goals of the sustainable development on both levels; nationally and regionally.”
Followed that, a speech of the UNESCO delivered by Talal Al Horani, an expert at the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, in which he said: “this workshop comes in the framework of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics support for national abilities to produce quality data for necessary indicators of the fourth goal/ Education 2030.”
The first day of the workshop included a review for the workshop aims and an introduction of the fourth goal of the sustainable development “the education programme 2030”.
It also included a paper on data sources and international comparison. Followed that, a discussion on the first two aims of the
fourth goal.
It is worth mentioning that the rest of the aims will be covered in the following days.
