Muscat: Oman's banking regulator has warned the general public against investing in cryptocurrencies, including the popular Bitcoin.
The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) board cautioned that the apex bank would not take any responsibility in the aftermath of losses arising from such investments as there are no policies or guidelines to regulate such investments in the country.
The banking regulator came out with the warning after its board met on Monday.
The board also reviewed the recommendations of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank mission on Financial Sector Assessment Programme (FSAP) and asked the central bank's management to follow up the implementation.
