Muscat: Tens of thousands of residents piled into venues ahead of the opening of new jewellery stores in Oman - because Indian cinema's finest were there to open them.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan flew in at the last moment for Amitabh Bachchan, who fell ill, and the crowds gathered in their throngs to catch a glimpse of the glitterati who have arrived in Oman this evening.

Accompanying him were famed South Indian actors Manju Warrier, Prabhu Ganesan, Nagarjuna and Sivaraj Kumar, as they inaugurated Kalyan Jewellers' three new showrooms in Al Mabaelah, Ruwi and Baushar
