Oman State Council Bureau hosts heads of panels

Muscat: Bureau of the State Council met on March 29 for its ninth meeting, in which it hosted the standing committee heads and praised the Minister of Tourism, who recognised a study by the State Council regarding tourism in the Sultanate.
The meeting was chaired by Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri, Chairman of the State Council, in the presence of the heads of the standing committees and the Secretary General of the Council.
The Chairman praised the heads of the committees for their efforts in completing numerous tasks related to draft lawreports and topics concerning the parliamentary group.
The Bureau also praised the reference made by Ahmed bin Nasser Al Meherzi, Minister of Tourism, while delivering a statement with regard to the Oman Tourism Strategy 2040. He said he valued the earlier study prepared by the State Council on “the reality of tourism and the challenges it faces,” in 2010,which delved into the challenges that affect tourism in the Sultanate.
Those at the meeting reviewed the vision of the heads of the committees regarding their work during this period, and discussed a range of topics and the means to enhance the effective role of the committees that facilitate and regulate the different mechanisms of action.
Additionally, the Bureau commended Hon. Eng. Nashi’ah bint Saud bin Mohammed Al Kharousiyah, State Council member and Bureau member of the Council, for being chosen Vice-President of the coordinating committee of women parliamentarians. The Bureau Council also commended the high level of cooperation between the State Council and the Shura Council, and stressed that the ongoing collaboration would benefit joint parliamentary work.
The Bureau also discussed proposals submitted by a number of members of the Council and referred them to committees, and discussed a number of messages received from the authorities and took appropriate actions.
The agenda for the seventh Regular session, to be held April 19, was also decided upon.
Additionally, those at the meeting approved the minutes of the previous Bureau meeting and reviewed the report on the implementation of decisions taken at meeting No.8 and the report of the follow up of activities between the previous meeting and the present one.
