Ministry launches Takaful Social Account

Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development on Monday launched Takaful Social Account in cooperation with Oman Arab Bank (OAB) under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Suayed Al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development.
Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al Ma’wali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, said that the first part of Takaful is related to ‘Nafaqah’ (alimony) of a woman and her children or parents who cannot spend for physical or social reasons, where spending is by judicial decision in relation to the second aspect of supporting voluntary work and associations, which is a very important pillar of the comprehensive development and partnership built by the government sector with the private and civil sectors. The third aspect is supporting the services of persons with disabilities.
The ceremony also discussed proposals for the development of Sultan Qaboos Award for Voluntary Work by Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Humaidi Al Saadi, Director General of Social Welfare at the Ministry, during which he presented the Sultan Qaboos Award for Voluntary Work, stressing that the wise vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has strengthened volunteering and deepened its concept to include all segments of the society and to create voluntary and innovative activities that have a developmental impact on Omani society.
The presentation also included showing the objectives of the award to consolidate and spread the culture of volunteerism as part of the culture of the Omani society, activating cooperation and social responsibility among all civil society organizations, and encouraging the initiatives of volunteerism and private institutions by increasing their contribution in supporting the generous voluntary projects, and to encourage constructive competition for community service through diverse projects that develop local communities.
The ceremony witnessed the crowning of the Dar Al Atta with ISO 9001 certification for its work in the preservation of the environment and its resources.
