Omani-Turkish trade volume rose by 55 per cent last year

Muscat: Omani-Turkish Business Council held its first meeting this year at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Omani side was chaired by Sheikh Salim bin Abdullah Al Rowas while the Turkish side was chaired by Mirat Youmin.
Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousuf, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that such councils play a pivotal role in enhancing trade and investment relations between the two countries, pointing out that it is important to activate the role of the council through visits to the governorates to introduce investment opportunities.
For her part, Ayse Sozen Usluer, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Sultanate, stressed the importance of activating the Council in order to serve to increase trade exchange between the two countries and to promote joint projects between them.
She added that the volume of trade between the Sultanate and Turkey increased in the past two years, indicating that the volume of trade between the two countries rose in 2018 by 55 per cent, pointing out that the health sector is one of the promising sectors that the two sides can invest in, especially after Turkey developed its health system and currently it is one of the main destinations for health tourism, especially in Europe, the Balkans and the Middle East.
The meeting discussed the objectives of the Council as the development and consolidation of relations between the business community of the two countries, encourage exports and exchange of goods and services through continuous contacts, exchange of information and establishment of exhibitions in both countries.
The meeting stressed the importance of encouraging the opening of a branch of one of the Turkish banks in the Sultanate because of the positive impact on trade and investment relations between the two sides.
