Pakistan Navy ships on goodwill visit to the Sultanate

Muscat: A flotilla of ships from the Pakistan Navy called on Oman as part of a goodwill visit to the Sultanate.
The ships included sailing training ship PNS Rahnaward, coastal tanker PNS Gwadar, and Pakistan’s maritime security ship Dasht. The goodwill visit was held by Commodore Awal Khan, the commander of the Pakistan Navy’s 9th Auxiliary and Mine Warfare Squadron (COMAUXMIN-9).
On 31 December, 2019, Khan, along with the commanding officers of the other Pakistani ships, called on KK Ahsan Wagan, the ambassador of Pakistan to Oman. While appreciating the role played by Pakistan Navy in promoting historically fraternal ties between the two navies, the ambassador gave a comprehensive briefing on bilateral relations that happily exists between the two brotherly countries, and greatly appreciated increase in frequency of goodwill visits by the Pakistan Navy ships.
On 1 January, 2020, a reception was hosted onboard PNS Rahnaward for senior officers of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, as well as prominent members of the Pakistani community in Oman. Commodore Sultan bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al-Alawi, Director General, Operation and Plans, Royal Navy of Oman, was the chief guest on the occasion.
On January 1, 2020, the mission commander and commanding officers called on Al Alawi, and on January 2, 2020, they visited Colonel Ali Maqbali, the Director General of the Coast Guard at the Royal Oman Police. During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral cooperation between Pakistan’s Maritime Security Agency and Omani Coast Guard.
The visits by the ships are aimed at strengthening the bonds of friendship between the Sultanate of Oman and Pakistan in general, and Royal Navy of Oman and Pakistan Navy in particular, as well as exploring new areas for future collaborative initiatives between the two brotherly countries. The goodwill visit will surely contribute towards improving interoperability and learning from each other’s experiences during maritime operations.
Upon departing Port Sultan Qaboos, Pakistani sailing vessel Rahnaward conducted a bilateral passage exercise (PASEX) with the Omani sailing vessel RNOV Shabab Oman II.
