Public transport services to resume in Oman

Muscat: Based on the approval of the Supreme Committee to deal with COVID-19, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has announced that public transport services will resume from 27th September.   

A statement issued online by Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said, "Based on the approval of the Supreme Committee in charge of examining the mechanism for dealing with developments resulting from the spread of the coronavirus, it has been decided to resume public transport services in the Sultanate in accordance with the dates and requirements set forth

"Intercity public transport services will start operating on 27th September, and public transport services within cities (Muscat) will operate on 4th October. The operation of transport services within cities (Salalah) will also begin on 18th October and the date for operating public transport services within cities (Sohar) will be determined later by Mwasalat."

"The following conditions must be followed to achieve safety for users and workers:

 1. Sterilising of buses before the start of the trip and after its completion

 2. Measuring the temperature of passengers for trips between cities

 3. Wearing a mask while travelling on the bus

 4. Providing hand sanitizers inside the buses

 5. Practising social distancing between passengers by preventing two passengers from sitting in two adjacent seats.

6. Preventing passengers from standing inside buses.

7. Avoid touching the handles on the bus.

8. Passengers must disclose any symptoms similar to those of coronavirus."
