Oman Post issues clarification about its Liwa branch fire

Muscat: Oman Post has clarified about a fire that occurred at the Oman Post's Liwa branch in Al Batinah North Governorate.   

A statement issued online by Oman Post said, ”Dear valued customer, on 25th October 2020, a fire occurred at Oman Post's Liwa branch in Al Batinah North Governorate. Oman Post's Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Department activated emergency response protocols and immediately evacuated the facility to ensure the safety of the employees and customers. No fatalities or injuries were reported. Customer parcels and packages were also not affected.“

The statement completed, ”We would like to thank the Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance (PACDA) for their immediate and swift response to contain the situation. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated and Oman Post is cooperating with the relevant authorities in this regard.”

“We would like to inform our valued customers that the incident occurred in the suspension of operations in the branch, while access to the P.O.Boxes area is still available for their convenience, customers can avail of postal services at the Shinas or Falaj Al Qaba'il branches. In the meantime, all inbound shipments will be rerouted to Falaj Al Qaba'il branch.”

“Oman Post has instituted a comprehensive site safety program that includes regular inspections and rigorous emergency protocols to promote safety and the security of our team, our customers and the community,” the statement added.
