Alawi leaves for Turkey to take part in summit

Muscat: Delegated by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs and his accompanying delegation left on Sunday for Istanbul to lead the Sultanate’s delegation taking part in the World Humanitarian Summit 2016 due to be hosted by Turkey during May 23 and May 24.
The summit is held under the aegis of the United Nations (UN). More than 70 heads of states, including many NGOs and civil society organisations will take part in the summit.The summit aims at developing a new strategy for humanitarian work in light of increasing disasters and crises being witnessed by the world.
The Sultanate will take part in the summit by a delegation comprising representatives of Ministry of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Social Development, NHRC and Foreign Ministry.
