Muscat: The number of museums in Oman has increased to 12 in 2019, the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI), indicated.
A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA), said: "According to the National Center for Statistics and Information, the number of museums in the Sultanate increased from 10 museums in 2015 to 12 museums in 2019. While the number of visitors increased during that period by 68.5 percent, to reach 408,040 visitors by the end of 2019, around 78 percent of them concentrated in 3 museums, which are the National Museum, Al Zubair Museum and the Museum of the Frankincense land . "
"The number of museum employees increased during the same period by 25.6 percent, to reach 186 workers."
"The number of visitors to 51 castles and forts increased by 71.2 percent between 2015 and 2019, reaching 426,525 visitors in 2019, while the total number of employees reached 110 workers."
"The number of visitors to the natural and cultural landscapes that amounted to 330 has increased, bringing it to 1,523 visitors."
"As for performing arts, the number of theaters in 2019 reached about 13, while the number of theatrical performances increased from 17 in 2015 to 132 in 2019, as this was reflected in the number of theater groups, which rose from 35 theater groups in 2015 to 101 in the year In 2019, attendance numbers in theaters more than doubled, despite the decrease in the number of theater seats by 21.3 percent ."
