MUSCAT: Superb 84 by Hasan M and Kaleemullah’s brilliant 3 for 23 were the highlights of Arm Alpha’s emphatic 122-run victory over Renaissance in a Premier Division 50-over League clash at OC Turf 1 in Amerat on Saturday.
Hasan’s top knock was instrumental in Alpha reaching 203 all out in 49 overs from being 74 for 5 inside the first 24 overs. Young Ubaid Ullah lent him good support by scoring 36 in an 86-run sixth wicket stand with him.
Youngster Yash Mehta made a huge impression with the ball, taking 6 wickets for 36.
Renaissance had no clue against the seaming deliveries of Kaleemullah, Bilal Khan (2 for 21) and Ahmed Fayyaz Butt (2 for 32) before being dismissed for a meagre 81 in its sixth loss out of eight games so far. Alpha is now fourth on the table with four wins from nine games.

Maniz Azad win
Maniz Azad International ended its C Division league campaign in style, beating Al Waad Trading by 5 wickets at Muscat Municipality ground 1 and topping the table with six wins and 12 points from seven games.
Having played out its games, Douglas OHI also has 12 points from seven matches but has a lower net run rate of 2.45 against Maniz Azad’s superior 3.70.
Failing to post a big total on the board, Al Waad scored 118 for 7, Muthumurugan Muniyasamy topscoring with 37. Left-arm spinner Adnan Ul Haq was the most impressive bowler, taking 2 for 15 from four overs while Adnan Ahamad claimed 2 for 25.
Maniz Azad took 15 overs to surpass the total, scoring 122 for 5, thanks to solid 39 by Mohsin Ansari and 31 by Shoaib Mohammed.

Anil bats Jumbo Electronics to victory
In another C Division match, Anil Anwar’s superb 79 not out helped Jumbo Electronics to an exciting 5-wicket win over OCT Al Amerat at OAC 3 ground in Seeb. Said Haider (46) was the main scorer in OCT Amerat’s 152 for 6 which Jumbo Electronics chased down in the 19th over thanks to Anil. Said Haider bagged 2 for 30.
