On Royal Directives, COVID-19 vaccination  launched in Omam's Musandam, 2,000 vaccinated

Muscat: As per Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, the Ministry of Health (MoH) on Sunday rolled out vaccination campaign against COVID-19 for all citizens aged 18 and older in Governorate of Musandam.

Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Sa’eedi, Minister of Health said, “We are delighted to launch the expanded campaign for COVID-19 vaccine in Governorate of Musandam.”

The Minister of Health pointed out that about 2,000 people have been vaccinated in Musandam and that the vaccination drive targets about 16,500 persons there.

Dr Al Sa’eedi reaffirmed that the vaccine will be available also for the teaching staff, so that students can return to schools.

The Minister of Health also added that the number of COVID-19 patients admitted in the intensive care units (ICUs) stands at 103.

Therefore, the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from coronavirus pandemic, is monitoring the situation and taking further precautionary measures is also not being ruled out.

Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Musandam, commended the significant efforts exerted in tackling coronavirus and providing the vaccines to all citizens in the Governorate of Musandam.

During the launching ceremony, it was announced to offer COVID-19 PCR tests for free for all citizens in the Wilayat of Madha in the Governorate of Musandam at a rate of four times a year.

The MoH urges the target groups to get the vaccine to protect themselves, their families and their community.
